The Regalo Hope Foundation (RHF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has made an appeal to the Ministry of Education, urging the promotion of digitalization in lesson planning. Chinenye Onuorah, the Founder/Project Director of RHF, conveyed this message during a seminar for school owners, educators, and teachers. Onuorah suggested that the conventional practice of manually writing lesson notes should be phased out among teachers.
The event, themed “Reshaping the Future of My School and I,” was organized in Lagos as part of the commemoration of the 2023 World Teachers Day. Onuorah emphasized the importance of teachers embracing modern learning methods, incorporating apps and tools into their teaching practices. She highlighted the need for educators to continually enhance their skills and stay abreast of advancements to effectively impart knowledge.
The seminar’s theme, “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse Teacher Shortage,” aligns with the overarching theme of the 2023 World Teachers Day. Onuorah urged educators to create environments that promote growth, innovation, and inclusivity in their schools.
Akhere Akran, an Inclusive Education Advocate and Facilitator at the event, emphasized the significance of strategic leadership and emotional intelligence in achieving inclusive education. She pointed out the existing gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, stressing the need for school administrators to incorporate emergency response plans and basic First Aid training.
Adebayo Shodunke, a Revenue Generation Expert, shared insights on strategic plans to enhance income and revenue generation for schools beyond traditional tuition fees. He emphasized the importance of diversifying revenue sources, such as seeking grants, donations, and renting school facilities.
Lilian Ikegbune, a Digital Expert and Volunteer, highlighted the necessity of corporate and personal branding in the current technological landscape. She encouraged educators to stay updated on technological trends in education and engage in continuous learning and unlearning.
Participants, including Mrs. Christy Nosa-Ihaza, a school proprietor, lauded the program for its impact and expressed the importance of inclusivity and continuous learning for educators. The program, attended by participants from both public and private schools in Lagos, covered various sessions addressing key aspects of education, leadership, and technological advancements.
