The body of Titilope Olusanya, a 45-year-old woman from Abeokuta, was found decomposing in her room on Monday night.
Police from the Kemta Division suspect she may have committed suicide. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, explained that Olusanya’s landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, raised concern after noticing she hadn’t been seen for several days in her apartment on Shittu Street, Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta.
The landlord, worried about her safety, went to her apartment and smelled a strong, unpleasant odor. The door was locked from the inside, so he alerted the authorities. When the police broke in, they found Olusanya’s body on the bed, swollen, which indicated she had been dead for some time.
Due to a lack of medical equipment to handle the body safely, she couldn’t be moved to a hospital. The police also tried to contact her family and local health authorities, but they were unable to reach any close relatives.
