Amosun’s Wife Uplifts 200 Vulnerable Children

Uplift Development Foundation in collaboration with World Bank has embarked on intervention programmes to support more 200 orphans and vulnerable children living with HIV/AIDS in Ifo and Ota local government areas of Ogun State in order to improve education and psychosocial outcome at the child level.
The intervention programme was designed to promote resilience in children and broader society by reducing adversity, stigma and building services and systems to reach people in communities across Ogun state and Nigeria in general.
Speaking during the UPLIFTing Orphans and Vulnerable programme at Ifo and Ota, the wife of the Governor of Ogun State and initiator of the programme, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, said the programme was part of efforts aimed at supporting the state administration in its mission to rebuild the state through its free education programme.
According to her, “the intervention package includes distribution of school uniform, sandals, textbooks, notebooks, writing materials, school levy, recreational for psychosocial intervention, health insurance card, distribution of mosquito treated nets, de-worming vulnerable children and nutritional support for infants and vocational training.”
She added that the Up Lifting Orphans and Vulnerable children project would empower six care-givers including families and communities, provide adequate care for many orphans and vulnerable children in the state.
In his remarks, the Director of Ogun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Dr. Kehinde Fatungase noted that the initiative of Mrs. Amosun was in line with the World Health Organisation’s mission to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and promote education, thanking her for the support in improving the living standard of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Seun Ademokoya appreciated Mrs. Amosun for her kind gesture, saying this would help boost their standard of living.
