The Remo Traditional Council has formally informed Governor Ibikunle Amosun about the passage of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo.
Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo who doubled as Chairman of the State Council of Obas until his demise joined his ancestors on July 23 while on medical check-up at a hospital in the United Kingdom.
The traditional council, through the Elepe of Epe, Sagamu, Oba Adewale Osiberu, informed Governor Ibikunle Amosun that late Oba Sonariwo joined his ancestors early this week at the ripe age of 80.
The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, said the news was a rude shock to the government, describing the demise of the first class monarch as a great loss to Ogun State.
Governor Ibikunle Amosu assured that his government would support the council and people of Remoland to give the late monarch a befitting burial.
Oba Sonariwo was born on July 28, 1936 and ascended the throne on July 14, 1990.
