Moviegoers who enjoy traditional Nigerian storylines will be pleased to know that filmmaker Abiodun Adebanjo is now on location filming his latest project, ‘OlolaAginju.’
The new film is a Yoruba traditional storey that is a blend of fiction and mythology, directed by brilliant director Tunde Olaoye.
‘OlolaAginju,’ a fictional female monarch’s novel, follows Adewumi, the monarch whose drive for power is fueled by predestination. In the film, she discovers that her kingdom’s wildness has been turned into an advanced nation. She wishes to reclaim this nation for her realm, but the leader of the wilderness known as ‘Ọlọ́lá-Aginjù’ is a formidable foe she must battle.
Top performers such as Bukunmi Oluwashina, Taiwo Hassan, Antar Olaniyan, and Dupe Jayesimi are on set for the film. RasaqOlayiwola, Kunle Alabi, Toyosi Adesanya, Babatunde Bamgbode, Olasunkanmi Akanni, and OluwoteOjo are among the others.
Adebanjo, who has created films such as ‘OniyaMeje,’ ‘Tori Ife,’ and ‘My Life, My Struggle,’ noted that his aim for filmmaking is to “promote the beauty of African culture through display of language aesthetics, costumes, and other tangible elements of Yoruba culture.”
“Sociologically, the film speaks deeply about the excesses of unchecked powers – the dangers and consequences,” he continued.
