Prince Abiodun stated this at the formal opening and swearing-in of 2020 Batch B Stream 1B orientation course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), at Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu.

 The Governor, represented by Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, said youths being the active population with the energetic traits to make things happen, would play a major role in the development and growth of any economy.

“We rank first among other States of the federation on youth development and empowerment programmes as already captured in the job creation, poverty alleviation and food security agenda of our administration. As a matter of fact, this is part of deliberate and calculated strategy of creating individual prosperity for all our people, particularly our youth, and for the continued development of our dear State”, he said.

Abiodun urged the corps members to see their call to service as an opportunity to contribute to the task of national regeneration, with a sense of resoluteness, dedication and loyalty, adding that they would be well utilised for the development of the State.

In her welcome address, the State Coordinator, NYSC, Dr. Belinda Faniyi, said  due to COVID-19 pandemic, the management of the scheme had to spilt the 2020 Batch B orientation course into two phases, termed Stream 1A and Stream 1B, saying a total of 772 prospective Corps members, comprising of 384 males and 388 females, with 101 pregnant and nursing mothers registered for the orientation course.
