President Bola Tinubu has hailed legendary juju musician, Chief Sunday Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade, as an embodiment of musical excellence and cultural ambassadorship as the iconic entertainer marks his 80th birthday.
In a personal birthday tribute, President Tinubu praised the music legend for enriching Nigeria’s cultural heritage and bringing joy to millions across generations through his extraordinary talent, creativity, discipline and enduring passion for music.
The President said King Sunny Ade’s exceptional artistry and innovative approach transformed juju music into a globally recognised Nigerian cultural treasure and helped take the richness of the country’s culture to audiences around the world.
“As one of Africa’s most celebrated entertainers, you have brought the richness of our culture to audiences worldwide. Your distinctive sound, masterful blend of guitar, talking drums and other traditional instruments, mesmerising dance steps, and innovative approach to music have earned you a distinguished place in the history of African arts and entertainment,” President Tinubu said.
