Music icon Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi has celebrated his longtime brother and fellow music legend, Sunday Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade (KSA), on the occasion of his 80th birthday, describing his musical journey as a testament to God’s uncommon grace and faithfulness.
In a goodwill message titled “KSA at 80: Celebrating Grace, Legacy & Brotherhood,” Obey expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the music icon through more than six decades of a remarkable career in music and entertainment, as he clocks 80 on 22 September.
The legendary musician acknowledged King Sunny Ade’s enduring relevance and impact, noting that his creativity and musical excellence had transcended borders and inspired generations of musicians and music lovers worldwide.
According to him, KSA’s journey through the ever-changing music industry has been marked by different seasons, achievements and boundary-breaking accomplishments, all made possible by divine grace.
“Looking back, we have every reason to say, ‘Ebenezer! Thus far the Lord has helped us,’” Obey stated, emphasising the role of God in sustaining KSA’s illustrious career.
While congratulating the music icon on the historic milestone, Obey prayed for renewed strength, divine preservation, greater accomplishments and many more fruitful years.
He further reflected on the grace that had sustained their musical journeys over the decades, describing longevity, relevance and impact as blessings that should never be taken for granted.
“May the grace that has sustained us these many decades continue to keep us. Indeed, this is an uncommon grace, and we must never take it for granted,” he said.
Obey, popularly known as the Chief Commander, concluded his message with a warm expression of brotherhood, welcoming King Sunny Ade into what he described as the “Octogenarian fold.”
