Oyo Reconstructs Road To Boost Tourism


The Oyo State Government has stepped up reconstruction work on a 30-kilometre road linking communities in the Oke-Ogun Zone of the state to improve transport links and unlock the zone’s tourism and economic. potential.

The state government disclosed in a post on its official X account that the Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaiye–KAP Film Village Road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area was approved in September 2025 and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

The state government said the project includes the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 30-kilometre road and construction of bridges across the Otu and Ofiki rivers, noting that the upgraded route would improve access between communities and facilitate the Movement of people, goods and services across the area.

The Oyo State Government noted that the road is an important access route to the KAP Film Village and Resort, a creative and tourism destination in Oke-Ogun, adding that better road access would attract visitors, encourage private investment and support businesses linked to hospitality, entertainment, agriculture and commerce.

The government mentioned that road infrastructure is a key driver of broader economic development, saying reliable roads reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs, improve access to markets, enable farmers and businesses to move goods more efficiently, and connect rural communities to schools, healthcare facilities, jobs and other essential services.

The government revealed that, since the Oke-Ogun Zone is known for its agricultural activity and significant tourism potential, improved connectivity would link producers to wider markets while making attractions in the area more accessible to domestic and international visitors.

The government said the road forms part of wider efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve connectivity across the state, particularly in areas with the potential to contribute more significantly to tourism, agriculture and the wider state economy.

The state government noted that the project was progressing within its planned 18-month delivery period, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027.
