Oke-Mosan 2027: Bolaji Odusina, a physician based in the US, declares interest in Ogun governorship. Likens race to David vs Goliath
A governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Dr. Bolaji Odusina, has officially declared her intention to contest the 2027 election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing her ambition as a classic underdog battle.
Odusina made the announcement during a press conference in Abeokuta on Friday, following consultations with party leaders and key stakeholders across the state.
Addressing her chances against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), she acknowledged the party’s dominance and the influence of its key figures. However, she expressed confidence that voters could back an alternative, likening the contest to the biblical David-and-Goliath story.
She said growing public dissatisfaction, driven by years of unmet expectations, has created a strong demand for a new direction in governance.
According to Odusina, residents are seeking meaningful reforms rather than symbolic gestures, stressing that isolated acts of support do not address deeper systemic problems.
She criticised what she described as the APC’s “suffering-and-smiling” approach, arguing that the state needs leadership focused on improving core sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, job creation, security, and economic opportunities.

The aspirant linked ongoing challenges—including poor road networks, inadequate healthcare services, and economic hardship—to what she sees as governance shortcomings.
Despite the influence of established political structures, Odusina maintained that the election would ultimately be decided by competence, credibility, and trust, rather than financial strength or political power.
She also said her decision to run on the ADC platform was driven by its alignment with her vision for inclusive and people-focused governance, adding that the party offers room for fresh ideas and responsible leadership.
Reaffirming her commitment, Odusina said her campaign—tagged “D-Doc 2027”—would focus on delivering practical and sustainable solutions in key areas, including healthcare, education, security, infrastructure, agriculture, youth development, and job creation.
