Three women suspected of murder have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.
According to a news report monitored online, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this in a statement, he said officers of the Command arrested Ruqayat Basorun, Omobola Shodimu and Aanu Owoade for alleged murder.
PRO Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested when the Police got intelligence report that they secretly dumped a corpse in a bush. According to him, “The DPO Ogijo Divisional Headquarters, SP Tijani Mohammed, who received the information led his men to the area at Mamugba village Simawa, where the main suspect, Rukayat Basorun, was arrested.
“Investigation revealed that the deceased happened to be Rukayat’s lover, who came to spend some time with her but died in a suspicious circumstance in the house of the suspect.
“Ruqayat then connived with her two other accomplices to take the dead body and dumped it in the bush.
“On interrogation, Rukayat confessed that the deceased was her manfriend, who came to visit her, but suddenly fell sick.
“She stated further that she took him to a private hospital, but the money charged by the hospital was too much for her to pay, which made her to take him to an undisclosed clinic where she said the man gave up the ghost.
“When asked the reason she decided to dump the corpse in the bush, she could not give any reasonable response.”
“The corpse has been recovered and deposited at OOUTH mortuary for autopsy.”
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the state CID for further investigation.
